Yakima Washington Food Truck Insurance — The Incident Part 2

In our last post we revisited the account about Frankie Steel, an exceptional employee of Featherstone Food Trucks, LLC. (Click on Food Truck Insurance in Tacoma Washington to read the full post)

Frankie was assigned to take his food truck to cover a popular event held in the area and as he was on his way his friend Melissa sent a text message to Frankie.

Frankie is absolutely addicted to his phone and despite repeated warnings about distracted driving Frankie quickly snatches up his phone from the cup holder but then just as quickly remembers he will get fired if he gets videotaped again texting and driving so he swiftly puts the phone down and decides to stop his truck at the next intersection despite the fact he had a green light — all so he could respond to Melissa’s text message so he would not be “texting and driving.”

There was only one problem — Al Smith, a truck driver was already late for his delivery and he gets caught behind Frankie and can’t get past him and for some unexplained reason the food truck comes to a complete stop at a green light. 

Since Al is already very angry because of taking a verbal shellacking from his ‘manager’, Gregory Hines, who just so happens to be the 19-year old son of his employer— Al mulls over the fact this snot nosed entitled kid has little to no experience in trucking, yet here Al is getting lit up in a verbal tirade about the importance of timeliness in deliveries from a teenager with a god complex.

Al has a wife and 2 kids to support and he takes the verbal assault without saying anything in return. After about 5 minutes Gregory tires of chewing out Al and hangs the phone up.

Now Al is stuck behind this food truck muttering “just my luck this truck is broke down.”

After a few seconds the driver is not getting out to put his hood up to signal mechanical problems or putting on his hazard lights.  Al can see partially through the back of the food truck as it has a large back window and he sees the driver looking down, maybe he is sending a text message his truck is broke down?

Another few seconds go by and food truck driver is still looking down, hazard lights are not engaged and Al loses his patience and lets loose a blast from his truck horn.

Al then sees the driver fumbling with something in his hand and then he disappears from view.  The driver still does not put his hazard lights on.

The food truck is stopped at a green light, vehicles are passing by in the right lane slowing down glancing over to see if something is amiss with the food truck and traffic is backing up in both lanes.

Al is stuck and can’t move to the right lane with his truck — the food truck has still not turned on its hazard lights.

The driver of the food truck now become visible again and he appears to be doing nothing, just facing forward, not signaling with his hands that he is having mechanical trouble, not turning on his hazard lights, not getting out — just facing forward doing absolutely nothing.

Vehicles behind Al start to blow their horns in a growing chorus, each car and truck adding their unique horn tone displaying their irritation, perhaps believing Al’s truck is the source of the traffic gridlock.

The light at the intersection begins to turns yellow, the food truck is still not moving, the horn blowing continues now from dozens of vehicles some consistent, others intermittent and Al gets a text message from his 19-year-old ‘manager’ that if he is late for one more delivery today, he is going to get fired.

Al’s blood pressure increases exponentially.
